Does anyone have a child that lives with your ex? If so, how do you deal with it?

My son has been living with his father since Jan. and I miss him so much. I want him to come back home and live with me at the end of the school year next year. I'm just wondering how you guys deal with your emotions about your kid(s) not living with you. My son is 13. He fractured his collar bone skateboarding back in March. His father was going to make him go to school the next day but his gf said, no he's not!!!! My son was in alot of pain and all his dad would give him was Tylenol, even though the hospital gave him a script for pain. He said that he didn't need to take any meds for the pain and he just needed to man up!!!!!! If he was here with me, I would have given him whatever he needed and I would not have had him go to school for at least 2-3 days. He fractured his right collar bone and he's right handed. How would you feel as a parent to not be able to comfort him the way you usually did?Does anyone have a child that lives with your ex? If so, how do you deal with it?
can u call ur kid ? maybe just try to give him as much love as possible, try to offer to take him out to a movie or something, just make sure he knows u miss him and are there when he needs it....thats all u can do.....
