How to deal with losing your ex, whom you still adore?

So I dated this boy for a few months, but i broke up with him for a stupid reason. It was an awkward kind of relationship - he was shy and had never had a girlfriend, and I was inexperienced too. I've known this boy my whole life, and it wasn't until after we were exclusive that I realized I truely loved him. So, when we aren't dating, we don't talk. We were never friends, we were only more. Hence, its been 2 years since we dated and we havent talked in months. However, he gives me these glances that are so intimate I feel the lust all over again. Everywhere I go, his eyes dart my way, no matter who he's with. Running at track practice, I can feel his eyes on me. Sitting there in class... I see those occasional stares. He still loves me too, I can see it in his eyes. So then why does he deny it?





I'm still in love with my ex, but I have a current boyfriend whom I'm also falling for. My ex and my current boyfriend are friends, and they went on a hiking this previous summer for 2 and a half weeks together. I told my current boyfriend that I still had feelings for my ex, and I suspected it. He offered to talk to ex about me and see if anything was still there between us.





So on his trip, they talked about it, and my current boyfriend asked if he could ever see himself with me again in the future. My ex's exact words were ';No, not at all.'; And they never discussed it again. My boyfriend says he said that being completely serious, and he sounded like he meant it. At our band banquet, my friend asked him to ask me to dance. All of his friends nudged him to go, but he said no. He refused to dance with me after last year's encounter.





There is so much more to this story than I can put into words, but what I really want to know is what you think. Do you think my ex just said he didn't see himself with me ever again because he was talking to my BOYFRIEND about me? Or, was he serious? Do his intimate stares toward me convey something? Does he even care, or is he scared?





I really would like some opinions on this. I've never felt like this before, and I know it may sound cliche, but he really was my first love. I still love him, but I'm trying to deal with the pain.
